  • How Can Therapy Help Me?
Therapy allows you and your therapist to create a safe relationship in which you can work through your thoughts, feelings, and experiences to better understand them and work to live the best life possible. Therapy allows you to release thoughts, emotions, and body sensations that have been blocking you. A therapist can serve as a facilitator and support to help you find your inner healing gifts beyond therapy.
  • What is a therapy session like?
That's a question with a million different answers. Every therapeutic relationship is different due to the fact that the people involved in it are different. Every client's needs are different, every therapist is different, and we work collaboratively to create the best approach to tailor the session to each client. At the end of it all, you are in charge: we work on what you want and we respect you if you don't feel ready to explore certain things. That being said, each session is typically 45-60 minutes long and clients will meet with their therapist once a week or every other week. We can incorporate homework (something to work on between sessions) but ultimately it's up to the client if they want it and they decide if they do it or not. It really depends on what is right for the client. I am also trained in a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Brainspotting and EMDR and can always discuss introducing any of these modalities into our work together.
  • How long does the therapy last?
The time you need. It is not a simple answer because the answer is unique to each person. Some people will need less time and some will need more, we will work with you to set and meet your goals. I also want you to know that you don't have to tackle everything at once, it's okay to take breaks and return to therapy as needed.
  • What is the cost of therapy?
Standard fees for therapy sessions are as follows: $150 per clinical hour (50 minutes) for Individual Therapy $200 per clinical hour (50 minutes) for an Initial Individual Evaluation Reduced rate I am committed to making mental health services accessible. I reserve a limited number of spaces for clients who need a reduced rate. Rates are based on the client's household income. Please let me know if you need a reduced rate during your phone consultation to see if we can accommodate your needs in this way. If we find this may not be suitable, I recommend checking out these low-cost mental health care resources.
  • Do you accept health insurance?
I am an in-network provider for select insurance carriers. Unfortunately, my contracts do not allow me to advertise or list that I am on their panels. I recommend that you contact me directly so we can confirm whether or not we accept your insurance. Your mental health/behavioral health services may be eligible for partial reimbursement through out-of-network benefits. If I am considered out of network for your plan and you would like to use your mental health benefits, I may provide you with a "Superbill" (this is a medical bill that lists your diagnosis and information from your provider) to file a claim and request reimbursement from your insurance company. Not all PPO insurances have out-of-network benefits, please contact your specific insurance provider to inquire about these benefits. I recommend that you check your mental health benefits to understand your coverage. In addition, it is important to keep in mind a few things about the use of insurance: 1) To claim reimbursement from your insurance, your therapist would have to give you a diagnosis. The diagnosis will be read by all relevant departments within your insurance company and will become part of the insurance company's files. 2) Consider whether such a diagnosis would have any impact on you, personally or professionally. This information may be important to maintain confidentiality. Check with your insurance company directly if you have questions about their confidentiality practices. 3) Medical necessity must be met for mental health services to be covered by your health insurance. Medical necessity means that, in this case, your mental health is negatively affecting or impairing your ability to function at work, home, school, or in the community. My hope is to help you make an informed decision.
  • I live outside of California, can I work with you?
At this time, I am licensed to provide therapy via telehealth in the state of Florida. I am exploring licensing in other states. Once that option is available, I will provide information about which states I am able to see clients in. Additionally, even clients who are California residents must be in the state of California at the time of the session to receive services.
